                               THE COURSE

No. 1  Long, straight Par 4 that often plays into the wind, making for a long second shot. Best tee shot is left center. Green slopes severely front to back, so stay below hole.

No. 2  Par 5, slight dogleg left off the tee shot and back to the right on the third shot. Water on the left for first two shots. Right center off the tee. Second shot should go to the left side, beyond the water, leaving an easier approach. Small green that slopes sharply front back to front.

No. 3  Par 4, dogleg right.  Tee shot should be to the left of the fairway bunker, leaving a mid-iron into a green bunkered on the left.

No. 4   Short Par 3, bunkered on the left, with a severely sloping green.  Two putts are difficult if the ball is placed on the wrong part of the green.

No. 5  Short, straight Par 4. Green is bunkered on the right, so a left center tee shot is best.  Green slopes in places so, depending on the pin placement, two putts can be challenging.

No. 6  Long Par 5.  No. 1 handicap. Drive should be right center to avoid water on the left.  Second shot should be to the left, past the water, to avoid a fairway bunker and leave a good angle for your third shot to a raised green that slopes severely downward.

No. 7  Par 4 with a fairway that moves slightly left.  Tee shot should be to the right side of the fairway to avoid a fairway bunker and leaving a good angle to a green that slopes sharply to the left.  Stay below the hole.

No. 8  Long, uphill Par 3 that requires more club than you think.  Another severely sloping green that makes for a dicey two-putt if you land above the hole.

No. 9  Long 4 that plays like a Par 5 if the wind is blowing inward, which it often is.  Tee shot should be right center, leaving a long shot into a sloped green bunkered on the right.

No. 10  Straight away Par 4 with trouble on the right. Second shot is to a raised green bunkered on the right.

No. 11  Short Par 4, dogleg right.  Best tee shot is straight away with a little fade, leaving a relatively short iron into a green that's bunkered on the right.

No. 12  Short, straight away Par 5, reachable for big hitters. Best tee shot is left center, leaving a straight shot to one of the flatter greens on the course.

No. 13  Short Par 3. The green slopes sharply dowward, making downhill and side hill putts treacherous.

No. 14  Many a good round have been thwarted by this difficult Par 4 that sharply doglegs right, over a water and brush hazard.  The best tee shot is around 200 yards straight away, leaving a mid-to-long iron into a bunkered green that slopes sharply downward. Often, bogey is a good score.

No. 15  A long Par 5 that requires two good shots in order to clear a hazard in front of the green.  Tee shot should be right center to avoid a bunker on the left.  Second shot should be left center, leaving a good angle into a narrow green that runs parallel with the hazard.

No. 16  Sneaky difficult Par 4 that doglegs left.  You can shorten the hole by taking your tee shot over the right corner of a pond on the left.  But a smarter shot is straight away with a slight draw. Second shot is to a raised, sloped green that is bunkered on the right.

No. 17  Tough Par 3 over a severe hazard.  The hole always plays longer than the yardage indicates.  The green severely slopes down toward the hazard, so any ball left above the hole makes a two-putt a victory.

No. 18  Long Par 4 that plays like a Par 5.  With water on the right and OB on the left, a premium is placed on a straight drive.  It's difficult to reach in two, so the second shot should be to the left side to avoid the water. Anything hit to the right side of the fairway near the green will roll into the water.  The green slopes severely downward, making for a difficult two-putt.
